Rafael Adorno 4A

Rafael Adorno is no stranger to the people of Barnegat; from the day he and his wife Nicole moved to Barnegat 9 years ago with their two children, they have been proactive volunteers throughout the community.  Rafael was a founding member of the Barnegat Jr. Bengals football program, has served as the Director and is in his 5th year coaching a Pee Wee team.  He is an active member of his congregation at Bayside Chapel and he served as an appointed member of the Township Traffic Safety Commission until his election to the school board last April.

Rafael brings a unique blend of experiences to his services as an elected representative.  At the age of 10 Rafael was diagnosed with severe hearing loss.  He and his mother worked tirelessly to keep him in main stream classes and by high school Rafael had proven that he could do it all.  He not only pulled college prep academics, but participated in Drama, became the 2nd freshman to play Varsity football, eventually becoming Varsity Club President and co-captain of a team that was undefeated in ’88, state champs in ’89, co-champs in ’91.  Rafael credits his accomplishments to the support of his family as well as his mentor and role model, Warren Wolf.

Rafael is a data driven, results oriented individual; after high school, Rafael attended Ocean County College and began working in construction, sales and diversified service. As a site manager he has overseen 50 facilities in Monmouth and Ocean counties, as a department head, he has worked with multimillion dollar budgets and managed projects for both commercial and residential contractors. Rafael understands that the success of the district means balancing the interests of taxpayers, parents and staff to provide the best education to our students and to prepare them for college or career.

Rafael Adorno is currently serving the school district on the Buildings & Grounds Committee, the Facilities & Transportation Committee, the Security Committee and the Negotiations Committees.  He also serves as Chair of Athletics and Chair of the Public Representation Committee where he fulfills his motto of “keeping the public in public education!”
