The Team for Continued Reform
Barnegat Residents,
At a time when our state is tightening their budget, neighbors are losing jobs and homes are falling into foreclosure; an election is near that impacts your daily finances more than any other.
For the past year our community has see real change and accountability from Barnegat’s Board of Education through the fruition of efforts started in 2006 by Bob Houser and Elaine Taylor, and carried further by a revitalization of the Board when you elected Rafael Adorno and four new board members last April.
Here are the real tax dollars saved for you by the Houser, Taylor and Adorno team:
Cut an additional $500,000 dollars from the budget, lowering the school tax rate (5/08 Board Meeting)
Saved taxpayers $70,000 on district medical insurance costs. (5/08 Board Meeting)
Saved $65,000 from 2008 forward by eliminating and combining positions, hiring a new full time Business Administrator/Board Secretary (9/08 Board Meeting)
Reduced the districts legal fees by $100,000 for the 2008/2009 school year.
Saved $1000 per day on the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent positions over the previous year.
These savings, just to name a few, were all done without any impact to our children’s quality of education!

Renegotiated the Superintendents contract 5 times in 6 years, making him one of the highest paid in the State, with all forms of compensation $300,000!
Hired a board secretary/asst. BA at a separate salary of $119,000.
Spent nearly $300,000 on dozens of attorneys and on politically motivated lawsuits and complaints. (forensic audit complete fall 2008)
Scott Bilker recently said he was opposed to terminating Dr. McMahon (APP 4-3-08)
Barnegat, we can’t afford to put a Bilker, Ihnken, Ford team in control of our tax dollars.
